Update from the Wyatt's Crew

We received and e-mail from Ryan Zunker this morning that their crew will be unable to attend the event as they've had problems with gun transportation.  

Camp Layout

We received an e-mail last night with the approximate layout for Artillery camp. I'm attaching the map with our areas of camp high lighted. Unfortunately we're a bit spread out but I'm choosing to look at that as an opportunity for better mingling!

what to expect, what to bring.

we should be close to the suttler area and food.
they will have 20 lb bags of ice for sale have a cooler big enough to hold it all or you can split it with someone.
BRING TOILET PAPER.
Bring baby butt wipes, these help.
We are bringing my 5 gal. thermos, it will be stocked with ice water with lemon and orange slices in it when we go off to war it will come with us and ride on the footboards.

to much stuff?

We are going to try to travel light. That being said if anyone has any extra room in there vehicls or if you need to have someone help haul your stuff this is the place to figure this out.
There is room on the trailer for tent poles and a few boxes. You will need to have it on the trailer before 4pm tues. It won't be there before wed night, and it will leave again Sunday after the battle.

Group dinner for Gettysburg

Debbie and I are planning to put together a group meal for Saturday night at Gettysburg.  My thought is ham and baked beans (from the Army's 1861 cookbook of course).  Would everyone mind contributing a can of veggies or fruit to help round out the meal?  Let me know your thoughts and if you plan to participate in the dinner so I can make sure to get enough ham.

When are you leaving Wisconsin and when do you plan to arrive in Meca? Also, please e-mail me at cwpielady@wi.rr.com with your cell phone numbers so I can put together a master list of contacts for everyone going.  Very helpful when trying to find each other on arrival!

Battery Blog

Several of our members have long said we need a way to connect on line with event news, travel plans, etc, so I figured I'd take the cannon by the prolong and set up a blog.  I do believe you can subscribe to the blog so you receive e-mail notices when something new is posted and comments can be added by one and all.  I'll see if I can figure out a way to allow multiple people to create posts but in the mean time, feel free to e-mail me with anything you'd like to have posted to the group.
